Philosophy

St. John Noah’s Ark Daycare and Preschool is dedicated to quality, Christian education and care for the children of our community.  We believe that all children are unique and are a gift from God (Psalms 127:3). So, that our children may… “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18.

Purpose and Objectives

A written statement of purpose as well as objectives are posted; along with plan and practices that consistent with the written statement.

Purpose

Responding to the needs of parents and their children is an integral part of the mission and ministry of the St. John Congregation. Noah’s Ark programs are designed to involve congregational members, the community, the family and the child. We believe that education and child care supplement and enhance the nurture provided by parent/guardian in the home. The parent is the primary teacher. Programs are developed to help support and encourage the parent in their role.

Objectives

1.  We believe that education and child care are significant opportunities for congregational ministry in the community.

2.  We believe a child learns best about God’s world through experimentation and exploration. Therefore, the early childhood program plans developmentally appropriate activities through child-centered, “hands-on” curriculum that values play as an avenue for learning.

3.  We believe that learning is encouraged, it is never hurried. This learning occurs in a warm loving Christ-centered environment where children can develop to his/her fullest potential.

4.  We believe that each child is a unique and special child of God and we encourage his/her self-esteem and individuality whereby children may find identity, purpose and power for their life in Christ by living in the knowledge of Him as their Lord and Savior.

Location

St. John Noah's Ark Preschool is located on the top floor of the educational wing of St. John Lutheran Church. The Preschool is licensed by the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS), and operates according to all state rules and regulations.

Parent Participation

The success of Noah’s Ark Preschool depends on the involvement of parents. Parents are needed in the following ways:
·   Providing snacks and paper products to serve
·   Assisting during Christian Family Sundays and Preschool programs
